As everyone prepares for the much coveted celebration of the New Year's Eve, I am riveted by the fact that my dog is afraid of fireworks. She just shivers and hides under the sheets or table or anywhere remotely safe in the house. Actually scratch that, she doesn't shiver, she shakes like an epileptic or a kid with a seizure.
Every time Chelsea hears a small crack or a popping sound, she starts the whole round of gasping and seizure attack of hers and it is just disheartening to watch her. This made me think of those people who doesn't appreciate the noise for some reason or for those who are allergic to the smoke and the pollution that our noisemaking activities create. Most of the time, we just think of how loud we can be or how crazy we can get in fulfilling our yearly traditions but have we thought of those people?
Well, because of my dog, I became sensitive to their needs and wants. So my pledge this new year is not to contribute to those irritable noises. Not only for my dog but also for those who, like Chelsea, might shiver to death.
